B.A. (Before AOL)

Looks like the wave collapsed on me. I'm back. Surfing ain't my thing.

I'm sure many of you had AOL back then. Dial-up. I remember seeing it for the first time. Probably 3rd grade. First family home computer where I could mess with UNLIMITED. Best thing that time that sister was too little to use the computer so it was pretty much mine. Thank you, brain.

I just had gotten a N64 and I was playing Super Mario 64. A classic, period. So I wanted to set up my first AOL User and my own e-mail, my own password, my own space! AWESOME.

I want something with Mario because it's on my mind constantly.

Mario@Aol.com, SWEET! My own password, it was probably like ShebaBlue (my dog name and my favorite color)

(Gasps)

Mario@Aol.com is taken!

Mario9128313494@Aol.com is recommended. Must accept. It has MARIO in it! I mean, MARIO!

I have a buddy list where I could add my friends and I could IM them. My own AOL MAIL ACCOUNT! MY OWN INBOX! Sweet!

I probably logged in a few times, more than a few times, to log in. Hope to see the YOU GOT MAIL would pop up and I had mail. It was safe to say that I never received anything else than my parents probably. I mean when I saw YOU GOT MAIL! I probably was amazed and I felt cool and clicked the mail.

Oh. Mom.

Well, I still got an e-mail -- Let's read what it says.

Let me know what you want for dinner!

Mom

I'm too cool to reply so I just tell her later. I wanted pizza, probably.

Anyway, AOL was indeed an epic thing because you could go place to place and log in through Guest Account and got into my account to check my e-mail and buddy list that displayed (0/1). But still, I could go over and log in my account and use my account!

The only friend was my mom and we couldn't log in same time on a computer so safe to say I never had buddies online.

But still! I had access to a world where I could do whatever I want without hitting the goddamn children only filter! ARGH! I want General* Filter

AOL was truly the foundation of my journey into the technology world as a young child. AOL has really done a lot of things when the time changed into A.A. (After AOL) A lot of stories I could pitch at you in the upcoming future.

Speaking of pitching.

Strasburg's debuting in few seconds, i'm gonna go witness history.

*General Filter was a way for preteen me and friends to access ANYTHING on the internet especially PORN. But that's whole 'nother story to talk about!
